Douceur

Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love.

Chante rossignol chante

toi qui as le cœur gai

D'où

" As we grow, get healthy and our needs change, whom and where we call ‘home’ also changes. The one thing that never changes about home is our need for it. We all need healing refuge. We all need a place where we can go to feel protected. We need privacy and retreat, to gather and re-group our energies, to piece our self back together from the inside, so that when we go back into the world we are protected by our own self-knowing - and not from it. We are protected our self from our self-knowing when we’re too busy to slow down, when our self-care is denied, or we don’t change and we know we need to. (...) Maybe the time is right to explore a more empowered version of who we are and where we come from. We may know our family intimately, all those land mines we’ve learned to avoid and the ‘safe territory’ we can trust to engage. They say you can’t choose your family. Okay, true enough. I do, however, believe you can choose your clan. "

Inconscient, m'entends-tu?

“If it were possible to personify the unconscious, we might think of it as a collective human being combining the characteristics of both sexes, transcending youth and age, birth and death, and, from having at its command a human experience of one or two million years, practically immortal. If such a being existed, it would be exalted above all temporal change; the present would mean neither more nor less to it than any year in the hundredth millennium before Christ; it would be a dreamer of age-old dreams and, owing its immeasurable experience, an incomparable prognosticator. It would have lived countless times over again the life of the individual, the family, the tribe, and the nation, and it would possess a living sense of the rhythm of growth, flowering, and decaying.”
C.G. Jung

Oh I’ve finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road

I have the feeling the coming week will be weird–not weird scary or weird freaky, but weird as in the old English or Norse sense; we don’t have a word anymore that directly corresponds to this, some combination of karma, fate, the timing of synchronicity, and it all carries a sense that the energy must be respected, that it is imbued with an aura of the sacred. To my mind it’s the energy that fed the legends of the gods, a perspective that feels an intangible current running through the Collective (and so each individual) that is like a living thing itself, acting in the life as a power that must be discerned, negotiated, considered at every turn–and so could be perceived as the will of god-Beings, played out mysteriously in everyday events and choices, speaking to us–and as always the question is, do we listen?

Les restes

Un cintre
Une marque de thé
Des chaussures de jogging
Quelques photos

At the most basic level, the definition of suffering is wanting things to be different than the way they are. We crave things we don’t have. We try to push away things we have but don’t want. In these ways we unintentionally create our own suffering. (…) In Buddhist practice, we are reminded again and again we can take adversity as the path. In other words, we can face adversity, bow to it, and use it as a means of cultivation. (…) For over 5 intensely difficult months my mental landscape had been relatively calm. Now I watched my thoughts spin out, creating stress and unhappiness. Creating suffering. My mental landscape obscured by dust storms.(…) The disappointment is not easy. I’m coming back to taking things as they are, and that’s decidedly not easy either. But I have a feeling taking adversity as the path is far easier than creating suffering in the name of desire.

*

Can I be on the spot with an open heart? In these moments I come face to face with the naked truth of practice. Maybe I will catch a happy glimpse of fruition, “Ah, I handled that a little better than I would have in the past.” Just as often I will see my lack of skillful means, the button that got pushed again. Both provide their own motivation for continuing to meditate. Meditation is a dynamic process of cultivating heart and mind while actively engaged with the world.

*

We don’t have the ability to control our circumstances in any given moment. But we always have choices in how we respond. We get to choose who we are and who we become. Maybe we have to make that choice more than once. Maybe we have to keep re-inventing ourselves, especially when life turns upside down. (…) Meditation provides a vehicle, a chariot, for transformation. You can hope for more than stress-relief. Make room to shift beyond self-grasping to discovering comfort in the world. Make room to become who you are inside, regardless of outer circumstances.

als die Wichtigste der Welt ;
Eine Kerze für die Liebe
Weil nur diese wirklich zählt.

Rainer Maria Rilke

Dante. La Divine Comédie
